Joachim Escher (* 9. November 1915 , † 28. September 2004 ) was a German conscientious objector and KZ - prisoners .

Life

Escher refused military service as early as 1937 and was sentenced to several prison terms. From 1940 to 1945 he was imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen , Niederhagen ( Wewelsburg ) and Buchenwald concentration camps. He was a fellow prisoner of Leopold Engleitner in the Niederhagen concentration camp . Joachim Escher had to serve the former French government members Léon Blum and Georges Mandel who were held hostage in the Buchenwald concentration camp . At the wedding of Leon Blum to Madame Reichenbach, which was carried out in 1943 in the Falkenhof (a camp that was located outside the Buchenwald protective custody camp and was intended for prominent prisoners) by a registrar from Weimar, Mandel and Escher were best witnesses .
