Joachim von Amsberg (born June 23, 1964 in Berlin ) is a German economist and banker .

He was named Vice President of Policy and Strategy on February 5, 2016, by Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun . Among other things, he is responsible for the development and implementation of the strategy and investment portfolio of the AIIB. He is also responsible for monitoring compliance with operational standards and procedures. He was previously Vice President of the World Bank for Development Finance , responsible for the World Bank's IDA ( International Development Organization ) replenishment and management , global partnerships, the World Bank's fiduciary business and innovative financing solutions. He negotiated the seventeenth round of replenishment of the International Development Organization for the World Bank. He was formerly director of the World Bank for the Philippines and Indonesia . He was responsible for assisting the World Bank to Indonesia during the global financial crisis and for the work to rebuild Aceh .

On February 5, 2016, he was named Vice President of the AIIB. Like the father of the King of the Netherlands, Prince Consort Claus , who died in 2002 , he comes from the Amsberg family .
