Joaquin Fabres

Joaquín Fabres Fuenzalida (* 1864 in Santiago de Chile , † 1914 in Paris ) was a Chilean painter.

Fabres had his first training as a painter with his friend Ernesto Molina ; later he was a student of Juan Francisco González , whose stylistic influence can be seen in his works. From 1905 he stayed in Europe and adopted elements of impressionism here. Works by Fabres are owned by the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes , among others .

Fabre was part of the preparatory committee for the Exposición Internacional 1910 in Buenos Aires . His works were also exhibited there and he was awarded a silver medal of the exhibition. He was also one of the promoters for the construction of the Escuela de Bellas Artes , today the Academia de Pintura , on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Chile's independence in 1918.
