Jocelyn Deane (* 1749 - November 19, 1780 ) was an Irish politician.

Life

Jocelyn Deane was the second son of Robert Deane, 5th Baronet and his wife Charlotte (nee Tilson). He attended college Christ Church of University of Oxford .

From 1773 to 1780 he was a member of the Irish House of Commons . In the general election in 1780 he ran in the constituency of Helston for a seat in the British House of Commons . Deane was elected, but could not take his seat because the correctness of the election of the MPs for the constituency of Helston was questioned and he was only confirmed posthumously as a MP by his untimely death. In February 1781 the relevant commission of the House of Commons decided that his election was due. Deane thus "represented" the constituency of Helston from September 12 to November 19, 1780 in the House of Commons. Deane died unmarried and childless. Robert Deane, 1st Baron Muskerry was his younger brother.
