Johan (Juhani) Helo ( Helenius until 1906 ; born August 22, 1889 in Helsinki ; † October 25, 1966 ibid) was a Finnish politician . Helo was initially a member of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP), after the war he joined the newly founded left-wing Democratic Union of the Finnish People (SKDL).

Helo held ministerial posts in a total of three different governments. In the cabinet of Väinö Tanner he was Minister of Social Affairs in 1926/27, then Minister for Public Affairs for about a month. After the war, as a member of the SDP, he became finance minister in the Paasikivi II cabinet for five months ; in the Paasikivi III cabinet that followed, Helo, who had meanwhile joined the SKDL, was education minister between April 1945 and December 1945.

In 1940 there was a presidential election. The electoral committee of the 1937 election was re-convened. While all parties officially support Risto Ryti, who was ultimately elected with a clear majority, Helo was a candidate for the Socialist Group , which had split off from the SDP. Helo received four votes. During the war years, Helo was arrested because of his political views.

He was married to the actress Lullan Helo (1909–1968).
