Johan Lizeganch

Johan Lizeganch was a medieval mayor (consul regens or proconsul) in Brilon .

He was mentioned in a document in 1382 in which he recorded the sale of 17 bushels of land from Esselin Stolman to Richard Kremers.

The mayor of Brilon was not only primus inter pares , but legislative and executive branches were united in him. City accounts were kept in his name, he kept the city gate key and he was chairman of the council court.

In city feuds, the mayor was in charge of the city's armed forces, and he also had the right to pardon in the event of severe convictions by the city court for criminal offenses . He could pardon the death penalty .
