Johann Christoph Mainberger (baptized August 7, 1750 in Nuremberg ; † April 21, 1815 there ) was a German organist and composer .

Live and act

Johann Christoph Mainberger received his musical training from Georg Wilhelm Gruber. From 1773 he was first organist at the Frauenkirche in Nuremberg and later at the Lorenzkirche . From 1796 he held the post of music director in addition to the post of organist . He also acted as master of ceremonies at wedding and funeral ceremonies.

Mainberger married Barbara Scholz on June 1, 1773, the daughter of his predecessor to St. Lorenz Leonhard Scholz .

Mainberger created two years of church music, cantatas , masses and piano works.
