Johann Heinrich von Stein (born February 20, 1937 in Cologne ) is a German economist .

Life

He studied and obtained his doctorate at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . This was followed by practical activities in credit institutes and in auditing, teaching and research at foreign universities, various study visits to the USA , Japan , the People's Republic of China , Southeast Asia and Russia .

From 1977 to 2002 von Stein held the chair for business administration , in particular banking, and managing director of the banking industry foundation and the European building society institute (EBI), both at the University of Hohenheim . His main research interests were the internationalization of banking, risk analysis and control, financial innovation and the marketing of credit institutions.

He is the editor of several series and monographs, including the 40th edition of Obst / Hinter: Geld-, Bank- und Börsenwesen . He is a member of the committee of the Stauferfreunde , is the founder of the first Staufer stele erected in 2000 near Castel Fiorentino and one of the founders of the second Staufer stele erected in 2002 on the Hohenstaufen .

Johann Heinrich von Stein was one of the signatories of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Danger for Europe (1992).
