The organ in Gartow church

Johann Matthias Hagelstein (* 1706 ; † 1758 ) was an organ builder from Lüneburg . Until 1735/1740 he built his first and only organ for the St. George Church in Gartow . He was a student of the master Matthias Dropa , who in turn was a student of the famous organ builder Arp Schnitger .

The completion of the Gartower organ cost considerably more than he had estimated. Since the client did not want to bear the additional costs, the organ builder Hagelstein went bankrupt.
