Johann Sollgruber

Johann Sollgruber (born February 15, 1964 in Bruck an der Mur ) is an Austrian lawyer.

Professional career

1992–1993 he was deputy head of the Austrian foreign trade office at the European Union in Brussels . In 1996 he joined the European Commission and dealt with questions of regional policy.

In 1998 he was hired by the Directorate General for Taxes and Customs for questions relating to EU tax competition, banking secrecy and the EU enlargement negotiations. Sollgruber was an EU delegate to the OECD in Paris on questions of double taxation and tax competition. From 2003 to 2010, Sollgruber was responsible for regional policy issues relating to relations with the European Investment Bank, public-private partnerships and EU state aid.

From 2010 to 2012 he was the coordinator of the EU strategy for the Danube region and advisor to the Central Europe 2013 transnational cooperation program. He is a member of the board of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe.

From 2014 to 2015 he was Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Austria ad interim. He has been a consultant for trade issues since 2016. Sollgruber is a lecturer in European law at the University of Vienna and author of several specialist books on the EU.
