The Johann Wehrli & Co. Ltd. was established in 1920 with significant German participation. The Johann Wehrli & Co. AG was next to the Banco Aleman Transatlantico (which is now called Banco Comercial Transatlantico ) and the Banco Germanico de la America del Sur, SA , a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank , the bank with which the government of the German Reich in handled the currency transfer during the Nazi era .

The managing directors of the bank were Carl Kessler and Max Reutter. Together with Otto Bemberg, Johann Wehrli & Co. founded Securitas SA , Stella SA and San Juan SA in 1939 . in Argentina . In 1943 Allen Welsh Dulles was supposed to investigate whether sanctions against the bank were possible. February 1945: Wehrli & Co. transferred money for Joachim von Ribbentrop and negotiated a settlement for Fritz Mandl (industrialist) with the Austrian state. Johann Wehrli & Cie. AG was said to have played a key role in shifting capital overseas in early 1945. After the American and British investigations against the bank had been completed, the presumed important role of the bank in the German asset shifts could not be proven.
