Johannes Nepomuk statue in Hochstraße 25 in Perchtoldsdorf

The Johannes Nepomuk statue at Hochstraße 25 in Perchtoldsdorf in Lower Austria is a representation of the saint in the Mödling district .

history

Under Leopold Fuchs von Freyenberg as the owner of the houses at Hochstrasse 25 and 27 in Perchtoldsdorf, the two houses were merged and a uniform facade was designed. In the course of this work, two niches were built in which the statues of St. Florian von Lorch and St. John Nepomuk were placed

The reason for the erection of the statue of the saint was a bridge at the intersection of Walzengasse and Hochstraße over a ditch in today's Krautgasse, through which the rainwater from the vineyard and the Perchtoldsdorfer Heide flowed off towards Spital and Perchtoldsbach.

description

The fall of the bridge of the saint is shown.

Johannes Nepomuk holds a cross in his right hand and humbly awaits the execution of the judgment by the henchman behind him. The use of violence is indicated by the biretta lying on the floor.

The statue probably dates from the middle of the 18th century.
