Johannes Feyrer (* 1959 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German firefighter and former director of the Cologne fire department .

Live and act

At the age of 5, Feyrer made the decision to work as a firefighter. From 1977 member of the Neustadt / Weinstrasse volunteer fire brigade - fire engine 1. He studied mechanical engineering and from 1984 worked for the fire brigade. He completed a traineeship with the Berlin fire brigade, in Switzerland, with the state of Bavaria and with fire brigades in Stuttgart, Bremerhaven and Duisburg. In 1986 he switched to the Cologne fire brigade as a commanding officer, where he initially headed the emergency and rescue services department and then various departments of the professional fire brigade. From September 2001 he worked as deputy head of office. On March 1, 2014, he was appointed director of the fire department. He succeeded Stephan Neuhoff .

Feyrer was involved in more than 4000 missions during his service in Cologne. These included a fire in tanks at the Ineos company , the collapse of Cologne's city archive and the hostage-taking in Cologne Central Station in 2018 . He retired on May 1, 2019. His successor in office was Christian Miller.

Feyrer has been active in the Cologne volunteer fire brigade, Merkenich fire fighting group, since May 1, 2019.
