John IV. Grübel
As Johannes IV, Johannes Grübel was abbot of the Waldsassen monastery from 1323 to 1337.
Johannes Grübel came from Thuringia , he studied in Paris . He was first abbot of Osek when he was called to Waldsassen after the death of his predecessor . He was in the favor of Queen Elizabeth of Bohemia , who made precious gifts to the monastery. The stone house in Eger, which mainly served as the trading post of the monastery in the city, was expanded to become a religious house and received a tower, bells and a chapel. After the language researcher Johann Andreas Schmeller , he is the author of the fundatio latinalis , a poem with rhymes in German about the history of the monastery. The poem was included in the codex antiquissimus .
