Franz Kübel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franz Kübel was abbot of the Waldsassen monastery from 1337 to 1349.

Franz Kübel, known as Kribel by Kaspar Brusch , came from Eger and studied in Paris . His period of activity is connected with a phase of decline and the debt of the Waldsassen monastery . In 1341 the abbot sold the town of Redwitz , a donation from Ludwig the Bavarian in 1339 to the monastery, to the town of Eger . In 1348, Rüdiger von Sparneck acquired extensive monastery property with the Schönbacher Ländchen , some places owe their first documentary mention to this purchase. A learned monk, not known by name, wrote several traditional writings during this period. Opposition monastery brothers elected Nikolaus Heckel from Eger as abbot, which a visitor from Morimond reversed, but Kübel also had to abdicate. He died twenty years later.
