history
The discovery of gold in Witwatersrand in 1886 led to the establishment of many mining companies and financial services companies, which soon increased the need for an exchange. The Johannesburg Exchange & Chambers Company was founded by the London businessman Benjamin Minors Woollan , from which the JSE was formed on November 8, 1887. Over the years, the stock exchange has often moved and sometimes had to trade on the street due to a lack of space. In 1963 she became a member of the Federation International Bourses de Valeurs (FIBV).
