Johannisstrasse (Riga)

The Johannisstraße ( Latvian Jāņa iela ) is a street in the Latvian capital Riga .

It is located in Riga's Old Town and leads from the Schmiedestraße ( Kalēju iela ) to the southwest until after an interval of about 80 meters at the St. John's Church on the Scharrenstraße ( Skārņu iela ) hits.

The street was built in the 13th century, the name Johannesstraße has been used since the 14th century and goes back to the Johanniskirche at the southwest end of the street.
