John Abele

John Eaton Abele (born 1936 or 1937 ) is an American entrepreneur .

Life

Abele studied physics and philosophy at Amherst College . After graduating in 1959, he worked for Advanced Instruments Inc. before becoming President of Medical Information Technology (Meditech) from 1970 to 1983. Together with Peter Nicholas , he founded the US pharmaceutical company Boston Scientific in 1979 .

He is also the founder of Canada's Kingbridge Conference Center & Institute and Vice Chairman of First. Abele is a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the American Institute for Medical and Biomedical Engineering, and has received awards from several medical societies.

According to Forbes magazine , Abele is one of the richest Americans and is listed in The World's Billionaires .

Abele grew up without a father; he and 69 other soldiers have been missing since a military operation of a submarine off Alaska in 1942. He is married and has three children.
