John Lee, Baron Lee of Trafford

John Robert Louis Lee, Baron Lee of Trafford (born June 21, 1942 ) is a British Liberal Democratic politician .

He was in the 1979-83 legislative period Conservative MP in the House of Commons for the Nelson and Colne constituency and from 1983 to 1992 in the Pendle constituency until he lost the seat to Labor candidate Gordon Prentice . Lee served as Junior Minister in the Defense Procurement Agency from 1983 to 1986, Minister of Labor from 1986 to 1989, and Minister of Tourism from 1987 to 1989 .

In 2001 he left the Conservatives and joined the Liberal Democrats. He was promoted to Life Peer as Baron Lee of Trafford , of Bowden in the County of Cheshire .

He was Whip for the Liberal Democrats from 2007 to 2010 but resigned in protest when the House of Lords reform bill was promulgated in the speech from the throne .
