John Tembo
John Zenus Ungapake Tembo (* 1931 in the district of Dedza in Malawi ) is a Malawian politician. He is president of the opposition Malawian Congress Party ( MCP ).
Tembo is a teacher by profession. He was elected to the National Assembly of Nyasaland in 1961. In 1964 Tembo became Minister of Finance under Hastings Kamuzu Banda . He worked at Banda's side for a long time, tried to come to power after his death (1997) and was excluded from the 2004 presidential election.
