Jokela [ ˈjɔkɛlɑ ] is a place in the Tuusula municipality in southern Finland. It has around 5300 inhabitants and is located in the north of the municipality on the Helsinki - Riihimäki railway line . Many of Jokela's residents commute to the capital.

The Jokela area was hardly populated until the middle of the 19th century. The development of Jokela began after the railway line opened in 1862. A brick factory was opened in Jokela in 1874 because of the high-quality clay soils in the area and the railway connection. As a result of industry, Jokela grew into a densely populated settlement: in 1920 the place had 570 inhabitants, in 1950 there were already 1,617.

On April 21, 1996, a serious train accident occurred in Jokela when the night train P82 from Oulu to Helsinki derailed while driving over a switch at excessive speed. Four people were killed and 75 injured.

When school massacre in Jokela on 7 November 2007 at the local school center nine people died.
