Jonas Sjöstedt

Jonas Sjöstedt (born December 25, 1964 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish politician of the Vänsterpartiet .

Life

Sjöstedt worked as a metal worker in Sweden. From 1995 to September 26, 2006 he was a member of the European Parliament . There he was a member of the delegation to the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee, the Institutional Committee and the delegation to the EU-Slovakia Joint Parliamentary Committee. From 2006 to 2010 he lived in New York City. He has been a member of the Swedish Parliament since 2010 . Since 2012 he has been party chairman of the Vänsterpartiet as the successor to Lars Ohly .
