Juggling convention
A juggling convention is an organized meeting of many jugglers . Most conventions take place on weekends, around 30 a year in Germany. There are also some bigger, longer events like the BJC in the UK and the IJA Festival in the US. The world's largest convention is the European Juggling Convention (EJC), which has been taking place in a different European country every year since 1978 and has several thousand participants.
Juggling conventions are usually organized by amateurs themselves and live on the help of the participants. Many successful conventions are repeated every year, in Germany for example the events in Berlin, Karlsruhe and Dresden.
In addition to free juggling, the exchange of experiences in workshops is an integral part of every juggling convention. Most of the workshops are organized by the participants themselves - the idea often only emerges during the course of the convention . However, especially at major events, there are also previously announced workshops with which the organizers advertise.
Depending on the size of the convention, there will be one or more shows. While on small conventions often participants on an open stage ( " open stage occur") occur on larger meeting paid artists in a gala. In addition, there are various show formats, for example the every evening Renegade at the EJC, in which anyone can appear spontaneously late at night and the audience participates actively and often in a vulgar way.
Another highlight of most conventions are the juggling games . Traditionally there are endurance competitions and combat , in which participants juggle three clubs and almost every means is allowed to be the last to juggle and thus win. Also, the organizers of each game come up with new, often silly games. If space is by the participants often spontaneously during the entire time volleyclub played.
The large, supraregional meetings often hold a parade through the city where they can take place. Some participants bring their own costume to the convention , some go on stilts or ride a unicycle .
