Jonsereds Fabrikers
The JONSEREDS FABRIKERS AB AB (from 1975 Jonsereds AB) is a former Swedish company. The Jonsered- based company existed from 1833 to 1979. The brand name Jonsered is used today for chainsaws, among other things, and is part of the Husqvarna group .
history
The place Jonsered was an important textile location from the 1830s, when the Scot William Gibson founded the Jonsereds Fabrikers AB to manufacture canvas and as a spinning mill. In 1872 the factory was converted into a public limited company. The Gibson family ran the company until the 1920s and remained on the board until 1978.
The company expanded its production to include carpentry, forestry equipment and fire hoses. The first chainsaw followed in 1954, "Raket" and Jonsered established itself on the world market with the USA as the most important market. In 1960 the first forest crane came on the market. In the early 1970s, the textile division was given up and the company consisted of four parts: chainsaws, forest cranes, tarpaulins and carpenter tools. In 1975 the company was taken over by Asken. In 1979, Jonsereds AB was taken over by Electrolux , with chainsaw production being merged with competitors Partner and Husqvarna and belonging to Husqvarna since 2006. Electrolux sold the carpentry tools to Kockums and the forest cranes to Hiab . The tarpaulin division operates today as Hallbyggarna-Jonsereds.
