Jordan ( Persian ﺟﺮﺩﻥ) is a district in the north of Tehran . The name Jordan goes back to Samuel M. Jordan , the founder and director of the American College of Tehran from 1910 to 1940 (now Alborz College ).

In the center of the district, a little east of Valiasr Street , is the street of the same name. It was renamed Africa Boulevard after the Islamic Revolution , but the former name is still widely used.

Jordan is one of the city's upscale residential areas. There are numerous shopping centers, boutiques, florists, restaurants, cafes and art galleries here. The busy Africa Boulevard with its traffic jams is a popular meeting place for young people in Tehran .

There are numerous embassies in Jordan, such as those of Spain , Poland , Mexico , Uruguay and several Arab states .
