Jornal

The Jornal was a Spanish field measure and had different values in different places in the province of Catalonia . Despite the introduction of the “French system” on January 1, 1859 in Spain (law of June 19, 1849), some dimensions, including the Jornal, remained in use for a while.

  • In Tarragona 1 Jornal = 3346 Varas cuadras (Castile) = 23.38 Ares
  • In Lleida 1 Jornal = 12 Porcas = 6552 Varas cuadras (Castile) = 45.7812 Ares
