The journal Monthly Weather Review is a monthly scientific journal published by the American Meteorological Society is published. The Monthly Weather Review was first published in July 1872, when it was published by the United States Army Signal Corps . The Chief Signal Officer's Office published the magazine until 1891. The Signal Corps' meteorological responsibilities were then transferred to the Weather Bureau , which was under the authority of the United States Department of Agriculture . This is how the magazine was published until 1970; at that time, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), subordinate to the United States Department of the Interior , was created. NOAA published the magazine until the end of 1973. It has been published by the American Meteorological Society since 1974 .
