José Ortiz Bernal (born August 4, 1977 in Almería ) is a Spanish football player who plays for UD Almería in the Spanish Primera División .

Player career

The beginnings

José Ortiz started his career as a footballer in 1996 with the amateur club CD Roquetas , which he left after just one season to move to the club in his hometown, UD Almería. There he was able to score a goal in 20 games in two seasons when relegated to the second division. He then went to Italy for a season, where he could not prevail at Ravenna Calcio .

Back in Almería

After returning to his ex-club he became a regular player there and was also able to prove his qualities as a goalscorer. In the 2001/2002 season he returned to professional football, and in 2006/2007 he even made it to the Primera División for the first time.

After a total of 12 years of professional football and over 300 league games in Almería, his contract was not renewed.
