Josef Hörtenhuber

Josef Hörtenhuber (born September 29, 1865 in Vorchdorf , Upper Austria; † September 17, 1936 there ) was an Austrian innkeeper, farmer and politician .

Life

The son of a master blacksmith learned that after the people attending school blacksmith , but could be further trained by the village teacher. After his military service he worked as a blacksmith's journeyman until he married an inn tenant in 1899 and became an innkeeper. Three children arose from the marriage. Hörtenhuber managed very well and was soon able to acquire real estate and houses. In 1910 he gave up the leased inn and bought the "Zur Hoftaverne" inn in Vorchdorf. He also owned a lot of agricultural land and was therefore also active in the agricultural cooperative system. So he founded the Vorchdorf dairy cooperative and became its founding chairman, and was a co-founder of the Gmunden warehouse cooperative . He also founded the Vorchdorf Music Association and was its Kapellmeister for 30 years. Between 1919 and 1925 he was a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag for the Christian Social Party .
