Josef Kurz
Josef Kurz (born August 7, 1934 in Illertissen , Germany) is a German textile chemist, international specialist in the fields of textile cleaning and commercial laundry, and an author.
Life
After an apprenticeship in dyeing and studying textile chemistry, he joined the Hohenstein Research Institute as a research assistant in 1957 . First he dealt with problems of color measurement and whiteness metrics , then he turned to solvent ecology and the sustainability of industrial cleaning processes. In 1965 he received a teaching position at the Hohenstein Technical Academy in the fields of dye chemistry, colorimetry and physical chemistry. From 1968, Josef Kurz headed research and development in the field of ecological research in Hohenstein.
In 1970, Kurz was appointed Scientific Director and Managing Director of the Research Association for Dry Cleaning (today EFIT European Research Association for Innovative Textile Care). As part of the associated international activities, he gave lectures and workshops in industrialized countries. The members of the International Drycleaning Research Committee elected him their President in 1985.
The Gütegemeinschaft professional laundry care eV entrusted Josef Kurz with the management of the organization and commissioned him to carry out research in the field of industrial textile cleaning. He wrote about 130 specialist articles, monographs and books.
As a scientist, Kurz received visiting professorships in Finland, Croatia and the USA. Since 1998 he has been adjunct professor of the state of Baden-Württemberg and since 2001 honorary doctor of the University of Liberec. In 2000, Josef Kurz handed over the operational tasks in Hohenstein, but remained deputy director of the institute and deals with the global strategies of the institute.
His areas of activity are textile chemistry, colorimetry , textile cleaning and commercial laundry .
