Josef Mumelter-Möckl
Josef Mumelter-Möckl was the last German mayor of the market town of Gries, today Gries-Quirein , from 1908 to 1925 . From 1915 to 1918 he was in command of the Kuk “Standschützen Battalion Gries”. In the so-called May Offensive in 1916 he held the rank of major in the Gries battalion . He lost all three sons in this war, two of them in this offensive.
