(3718) Dunbar is an asteroid of the main belt , which from the November 7, 1978 American US astronomer Eleanor Helin and scolding John bus at the Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) in California was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the US physicist and planetologist Roy Scott Dunbar , who worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 1983 and discovered several asteroids, including three near-Earth objects .
