Roy Scott Dunbar is an American planetologist and asteroid explorer.
As a member of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory , he participated in the PCAS at the Palomar Observatory . In the course of this project he discovered a total of eight asteroids, six together with Eleanor Helin .
His work on the stability of Trojan-like librations in the Earth-Sun system led to a search program for Earth Trojans carried out at the Palomar Observatory.
Honors
The asteroid (3718) Dunbar discovered by E. Helin and Schelte John Bus was named after him.
