Josefina Miniño

Josefina Miniño ( Francia Josefina Miniño de Molina ; born June 4, 1940 in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican ballet dancer and choreographer.

Miniño had her first ballet lessons from Kali Karlo , Antonio Gelpi and Guillermo de Martí and lessons in folklore dance from René Carrasco . In 1953, she went to La Voz Dominicana with her brother José Miniño . In 1956, a scholarship enabled her to study with Martha Graham in the USA. On her return she founded the Escuela de Danza Popular with René Carrasco . She later became the director of the Ballet Folklórico Nacional Dominicano . In 2006, Miniño received recognition from the Senate of the Dominican Republic for her artistic career and her contributions to the country's culture. She is married to the composer Papa Molina .
