The Josefsbergseilbahn was a cable car built in 1979 by the Hans Trojer company in Forst / Algund near Merano . It led to the local Josefsberg. The Josefsberg cable car , which replaced a chair lift , was one of the few self-propelled passenger cable cars in the world. The drive was done using a air-cooled VW - internal combustion engine , which was above the cabin. The drive concept was patented. A single passenger could operate and use the train alone.

The railway was private, so not in public operation. It was dismantled in the late 1990s. Today, the concrete structure of the valley station is still visible, albeit a bit overgrown.
