Josep Piqué i Camps (born February 21, 1955 in Vilanova i la Geltrú ) is a Spanish politician of the Spanish People's Party (the Partido Popular , PP for short). After their election victory in 1996 , he was appointed Minister of Industry. From 2000 to 2002 he was Foreign Minister. In the first half of 2002 he was also President of the Council of the European Union in this capacity .

In 2003 he became group leader of the PP in the Catalan Parliament. In July 2007, as a result of differences of opinion with the party leadership in Madrid, he resigned from his posts as chairman of the Catalan PP and parliamentary group chairman. In November 2007 he took over the chairmanship of the low-cost airline Vueling .
