The Joseph Jenkins Roberts Monument is a memorial in downtown Monrovia , the capital of Liberia . It is located in the Mamba Point district , just a few steps from the former Ducor Hotel .
The monument was erected on the remains of the former Fort Norris coastal battery and shows the life-size bronze statue of the first Liberian President Joseph Jenkins Roberts (1809–1876). It stands on a concrete base, the front of which is covered with a black patinated relief panel showing scenes from the life of the President.
