Joseph telling his dreams (also Joseph tells his dreams , English Joseph Telling His Dreams ) is an etching by Rembrandt van Rijn from 1638. It shows the biblical young Joseph surrounded by his family. The prints are between 8.6 × 7.9 and 11 × 8.3 centimeters in size.

description

The etching depicts a scene from the first book of Moses (Genesis) 37, 5-11 is where the young Joseph to his father Jacob and his brothers tells his dreams that one day she will bow before him. The boy is in the center of the picture, on the left his father Jakob is sitting in the armchair, above is a brother (Ruben?) With an older woman (Leah), on the right are several other brothers, some of whom are turning away from Joseph. In the lower right corner of the picture sits a young woman reading from a book.

Numerous prints of the etching have been preserved in various states, including in the British Museum , the National Gallery of Art , the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden , the Künstlerhaus Wien , the Leeds Art Gallery, the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and others Collections are located.

Prints fetched a price of 1,800 euros at auctions in 2017 and 3,250 euros in 2018.
