The Josh Joplin Group was a Georgia-based pop band led by singer-songwriter Josh Joplin that broke up in 2003.

Career

After the release of two independent albums (Boxing Nostalgic and Head-Projektor) under the name Josh Joplin Band , the band signed with Artemis Records and released their album Useful Music in 2000. Most of the album was produced by Shawn Mullins , the album received very good reviews but had no commercial success. However, it does include a fairly successful song: Camera One . The song made it to number 29 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart in 2001 .

In September 2002, the Josh Joplin Group released their second major label album, The Future That Was . The musical styles were just as diverse, ranging from slow piano and acoustic guitar pop to optimistic keyboard and electric guitar rock.

Like its predecessor, The Future That Was received good reviews but sold poorly. Two single releases were released, I Am Not just the Cowboy and Wonder Wheel , but neither one nor the other was successful. The album made it to number 44 on the Billboard charts. The band split in the fall of 2003, but played two last shows in Atlanta in December of that year.

On August 23, 2005 Josh Joplin released his solo album Jaywalker on Eleven Thirty Records.
