The Journal of Ancient Judaism is an interdisciplinary journal on Jewish literature, culture, religion and history from the Babylonian Exile to the Babylonian Talmud . It was founded in 2010.

The magazine includes long articles of up to 80 pages, as well as a detailed review section. One issue per year is devoted to specific peripheral areas of Jewish Studies . Articles are published in German, English and French, with the majority of the publications being in English. The magazine is edited by Maxine L. Grossmann, Professor of Jewish Studies and Religious Studies at the University of Maryland , and Armin Lange, Professor of Jewish Studies and Director of the Institute for Jewish Studies at the University of Vienna . The magazine is published three times a year by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in Göttingen. The Journal of Ancient Judaism series of books is published in addition to the magazine .
