The Journal of Cleaner Production is an 18-issue annually peer-reviewed scientific journal that has been published by Elsevier since 1993 . The editor-in-chief is Donald Huisingh from the University of Tennessee .
The journal is transdisciplinary and publishes research that deals with a more environmentally friendly production method. It aims at innovations in the production process, new and improved products as well as the introduction of more environmentally friendly structures, systems and processes.
The impact factor in 2016 was 5.715, the five-year impact factor was 6.207. In the two-year Impact Factor, the journal was ranked 5th out of 31 scientific journals in the "green and sustainable science and technology" category, 17th out of 229 journals in the environmental science category and 6th out of 49 journals in the environmental engineering category .
