Life

After studying abroad, during which he first came into contact with the sport of football, Cortina founded a football club in August 1916 together with a few other enthusiasts from the higher circles of the Guadalajara region , the name of which Atlas came from his suggestion.

At Atlas he played until he took part in the Campeonato del Centenario in 1921. At this tournament, those responsible at Club Asturias became aware of Cortina and brought him to the capital , where he won the championship with the Asturianos in the 1922/23 season.

Taking into account his merits in founding the Club Atlas, a tournament that had previously been held several times was launched in 1993 by the club that bears his name.
