Juan de Padilla (poet)
Juan de Padilla (* around 1468 in Seville ; † 1522 ) was a Spanish poet .
Life
Padilla became a Carthusian monk and is therefore also known as "El Cartujano". The author of some romances is particularly prominent for his two long religious poems, "Retablo de la vida de Jesús Cristo" (1513) and "Los doce triunfos de los doce apostolos" (1521). He mimicked the style of the 15th century poet Juan de Mena and used allegorical representations.
