Judit Elek

Judit Elek (born November 10, 1937 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian screenwriter and director .

Life

The graduate of the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest initially worked primarily as a documentary filmmaker. From the 1970s onwards she was given increasing opportunities to make feature films. Many of these deal with Jewish topics and those of anti-Semitism . Their most tester film (1989) ( Tutajosok , English: Memories of a River ) deals with the ritual murder trial of tiszaeszlár affair , the 1882-83 became the starting point of a wave of anti-Semitic propaganda in Hungary. Elek is the recipient of the Béla Balázs Prize and other prestigious awards.
