Judith's love
Judiths Liebe (in the Hebrew original "כימים אחדים" - "how few days") is the third novel by the Israeli writer Meir Shalev . The name derives from the first book of Moses Gen 29.20 EU from: So Jacob served seven years for Rachel. Because he loved them, they seemed like a few days.
The novel tells about the love of three men for a woman, Judith, who is the narrator's mother, Sejde. The action takes place in a small village on the Jezreel plain before the state of Israel was established or during its first years.
The plot of the book is not structured in chronological order, but fluctuates all the time between the past and the present, which creates gaps in knowledge that are constantly being torn open and filled in as the plot is presented to the reader on different levels and continues continuously. With the change of the time level, the perspective of the reader also changes, as does the narrator.
In addition to the main characters, there are also numerous secondary characters, short stories, anecdotes and the like. With his relaxed writing style, the author creates a warm and human world full of humor and wisdom.
