The Judo Club Basel was founded in 1935 under the name Jiu-Jitsu -Club Basel . The name change to the current name was initiated in 1945. The club has its training facility on Hirschgässlein in Basel and has around 300 members.

history

The association was founded as one of the oldest budo associations in Switzerland on May 9, 1935. No name is noted in the foundation protocol. This was only given on July 28, 1935 as Jiu-Jitsu-Club Basel. In 1945 the name was changed to Judo Club Basel . Reason: All clubs affiliated to the Swiss Federation call themselves Judo Club. Today the club is one of the largest judo clubs in Switzerland.

Sections

Judo

The Judo section is the larger of the two sections. Everyone can become a member after completing an introductory course. The largest group of members in the Judo section are children and young people.

Jiu Jitsu

The Jiu Jitsu section has existed since the association was founded. Since training is only offered from adolescence, it is the smaller section of the club.

The logo of the Judo Club Basel shows a Basel stick painted with calligraphic technique. The rising sun can be seen in the background. It was newly introduced in 2007.
