Youth Chamber (EKD)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The youth chamber of the EKD was founded in 1946 (based on the model of the youth chamber in the Confessing Church ) to represent the interests of young people. Later almost all regional churches set up their own youth chambers. They advise the consistory or church office and the church leadership on all issues that affect work with children and young people, deal with issues from the church, society and politics and can comment on these for the Protestant youth of their regional church.

In 1997 the youth chamber of the EKD was connected with the chamber for education and upbringing to the chamber for education and upbringing, children and youth . The specific topics of youth work are dealt with within the working group of Protestant youth together with the Protestant free churches and other organizations.

composition

The youth chambers of the regional churches are composed of the elected representatives of the Protestant youth associations and the representatives of the offices, works and institutions active in Protestant child and youth work, as well as the state youth pastor . The chairman of the youth chamber is elected by the youth chamber itself at the first constituent meeting, unless this is already prescribed by the regional church regulations for work with children and young people.
