July Medal (obverse)

The July Medal ( French: Médaille de Juillet ) was an award donated by King Ludwig Philip I to the participants in the July Revolution . The medal was distributed from May 13, 1831. In the bill made on October 9, 1830, it was designed with the July cross .

Appearance

The medal is made of silver and shows the Gallic rooster standing on the French flag in the obverse . This representation is surrounded by a thick wreath of oak leaves, above which is the inscription A SES DEFENSEURS LA PATRIE RECONNAISANTE (The grateful fatherland for its defenders). The lapel shows three entwined laurel wreaths, with the numbers 27 28 29 . The words PATRIE LIBERTE JULLET 1830 around the wreath .

Ribbon

The ribbon on which the award was worn is in the national colors, i.e. a red-white-blue ribbon.
