July Mikhailovich Vorontsov
July Mikhailovich Voronzow ( Russian Юлий Михайлович Воронцов ; born October 7, 1929 in Leningrad ; † December 12, 2007 ) was a Russian diplomat.
Career
Vorontsov was the Soviet ambassador to Afghanistan in the late 1980s , then the last Soviet UN ambassador from 1990 to 1991 and the first Russian ambassador to the UN from 1991 to 1994. From 1994, he was the successor to Vladimir Lukin as ambassador to the United States .
