Julia Gutiérrez Caba (born October 20, 1934 in Madrid ) is a Spanish actress .

Life

Julia Gutiérrez Caba was born in Madrid in 1934. Her parents Emilio Gutiérrez Esteban and Irene Caba Alba were already active as actors. Her two siblings Irene Gutiérrez Caba and Emilio Gutiérrez Caba also became actors. Her great niece is the actress and producer Irene Escolar . Julia Gutiérrez Caba began her acting career at the theater in 1951 at the age of seventeen. She got her first film role in 1960 in Bread and Blood .

Gutiérrez Caba's entire filmography includes more than fifty roles in films and television series. She has received numerous awards for her work, including a Goya Award for best supporting actress in 2000 for her role in You're the one (una historia de entonces) .

From 2003 to 2008 Gutiérrez Caba was seen in the role of Carmen Casado in the Spanish sitcom Los Serrano . She also gained fame outside of Spain through her appearance in the 2010 thriller Julia's Eyes produced by Guillermo del Toro . She is still active as an actress on television and in the theater. Caba has received numerous awards for her services. In 2019 she was honored with a special prize for her life's work at the Festival de Málaga Cine en Español.

Julia Gutiérrez Caba was married to the stage actor and director Manuel Collado Álvarez from 1964 until his death in 2009.
